Double entry bookkeeping

Double entry bookkeeping is a method of recording transactions where each transaction can be a debit or a credit. This means that you move money from one account to another. Where on one side you withdraw money, and on the other you deposit it.

In other words - double entry bookkeeping is a method of record-keeping that lets you track just where your money comes from and where it goes.

Using double entry means that money is never gained nor lost - it is always transferred from somewhere (a source account) to somewhere else (a destination account). In Monex, this transfer is known as a transaction, and each transaction requires at least two accounts.
